Why are you reading this here and not at the new site?

I suppose it was inappropriate to have a Father's Day video last week without ever having posted a Mother's Day video.

Allow me to make amends for that:

Take up supricky06's challenge and tell us why your mother is the Best Mom Ever™.

Happy Father's Day to all those with standing to celebrate it.

Padgham is hoping to be featured by YouTube today. Go help him out with ratings and such.

For Discussion: I'm strictly a four-in-hand guy — you? I also read once that you should apply cologne on your wet hair rather than your skin, since it will last longer that way. Thoughts?

This is complicated, so try to pay attention.

Three previous Sunday CuteTubers™ -- tyleroakley, greyk2 and StevieProductions -- along with two other YouTubers formed a collaborative channel called 5awesomegays (inspired by the hyper-popular UK collaborative channel fiveawesomeguys).

After some drama, one of the two "Others" quit 5awesomegays in a huff, and the other four chose another previous CuteTuber™, disneykid1, to replace him.

So, net-net, four of the five current 5awesomegays have been featured as Sunday CuteTubers™. So how can I not feature the fifth?

With logic like that, Nanooboy has a bright future in politics.

I'm spending this long weekend finally going through years' worth of old travel and family photos and videotapes to get them onto digital media for my parents.

The transferring process is of course trivially easy. It's the editing that's laborious. Just ask someone who knows:

I don't know the technical term, but splicing yourself into a scene (i.e., talking to yourself in the same room) seems to be an editorial rite of passage for compulsive YouTubers. This effort by MysteryGuitarMan was one of the better examples I've seen.

Remember the scene early in Superman: The Movie where Marlon Brando retorts to Trevor Howard: "You would accuse me of insurrection?"

That's how I felt, in this context of this recent post calling out an idiot who threw M&Ms at a police officer investigating a hit and run, when another commenter called me a "cop sucker" —
"Kip" is the kind of guy I think of when I think of Mencken's remark that Americans get the government they deserve, and they deserve to get it good and hard. Should Kip someday find himself under the jackboots of America's "finest," I sure hope there is no one around to squander any sympathy on his behalf.
The point, of course, if not whether I "ever find myself under the jackboot of 'America's finest,'" but whether I do so because I illegally hurled M&Ms at them. It scares me that some libertarians don't seem to comprehend the difference.

In any case, an adolescent comment like that deserves an adolescent* Kip Clip:

Another isolated incident.

John McCain recently gave a speech in which he promised, unsurprisingly, to appoint "conservative" judges who would refrain from engaging in "judicial activism."

Of course, "judicial activism" often means protecting the inherent rights of politically disadvantaged insular minorities from the tyranny of the majority. To radical majoritarians like McCain, "judicial activism" is somehow a bad thing.

And, as some of us know, it really is hard being part of a politically disadvantaged insular minority:

Of course, VanFresh is Canadian, and Canada is often better at protecting minorities than the U.S. So he'll probably be fine.

As the presidential campaign switches focus from the Iraq War to the economy, the candidates increasingly remind us about the importance of the availability, not just of jobs, but of "good jobs."

And, when it comes to jobs, the country is certainly suffering:

Given his demographic and his circumstances, I wonder for which candidate MattPyrch will make-a-da-vote.

It's been quite a while since we had any dancing here on Sunday CuteTuber™. And after such an intense post last Sunday (not to mention yesterday), I think we could use some lightheartness.

Fortunately, the Internet has an endless supply:

I broke a sweat just watching that routine by poolerubgy.

I've been accused, yet again, of having an inordinate fondness for Catholic-bashing.

I can't imagine why...

I wonder how many Catholics, when the plate reaches them each Sunday, drop in not a twenty-dollar bill but a note demanding that the Vatican abandon its primitive, cruel and thoroughly un-Christian policies regarding gays.

For an American lay Catholic to disagree with the Pope's bilious blather but do nothing about it is, um, to do nothing about it. And I, like nicklansley, will not apologize for having an inordinate fondness for pointing that out.

More thoughts today from a previous CuteTuber™, thorthewhore.

One of Hillary Clinton's "million ideas that the country can't afford" comes from her silly ode to nanny-statism, It Takes a Village (with emphasis on "nanny"):
Videos with scenes of commonsense baby care -- how to burp an infant, what to do when soap gets in his eyes, how to make a baby with an earache comfortable -- could be running continuously in doctors' offices, clinics, hospitals, motor vehicle offices, or any other place where people gather and have to wait.
The only idea that could possibly be worse would be to outsource the nanny-videos to the British:

On second thought, maybe ominpresent YouTube videos from jimmy0010 wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Following up from last week, what should a guy who fears that he is "undesirable, undatable, unhappy, and uncool" do to help improve his social life?

Go to a dance club, of course:

Maybe StevieProductions should write a FaceBook app to match up guys and clubs.

I had planned to run this recent Dilbert panel as a Sidebar Sidetrack, but never got around to it:

One of my favorite YouTubers can commiserate:

I would have tried to cheer up disneykid1 and tell him that he is indeed desirable, datable, happy and cool. But then I remembered that I'm probably one of the "less than 20% of 23,336,016" people whom he outranks, so what's the point?
