Three previous Sunday CuteTubers™ -- tyleroakley, greyk2 and StevieProductions -- along with two other YouTubers formed a collaborative channel called 5awesomegays (inspired by the hyper-popular UK collaborative channel fiveawesomeguys).

After some drama, one of the two "Others" quit 5awesomegays in a huff, and the other four chose another previous CuteTuber™, disneykid1, to replace him.

So, net-net, four of the five current 5awesomegays have been featured as Sunday CuteTubers™. So how can I not feature the fifth?

I'm spending this long weekend finally going through years' worth of old travel and family photos and videotapes to get them onto digital media for my parents.
The transferring process is of course trivially easy. It's the editing that's laborious. Just ask someone who knows:

I don't know the technical term, but splicing yourself into a scene (i.e., talking to yourself in the same room) seems to be an editorial rite of passage for compulsive YouTubers. This effort by MysteryGuitarMan was one of the better examples I've seen.

Remember the scene early in Superman: The Movie where Marlon Brando retorts to Trevor Howard: "You would accuse me of insurrection?"

That's how I felt, in this context of this recent post calling out an idiot who threw M&Ms at a police officer investigating a hit and run, when another commenter called me a "cop sucker" —
"Kip" is the kind of guy I think of when I think of Mencken's remark that Americans get the government they deserve, and they deserve to get it good and hard. Should Kip someday find himself under the jackboots of America's "finest," I sure hope there is no one around to squander any sympathy on his behalf.
The point, of course, if not whether I "ever find myself under the jackboot of 'America's finest,'" but whether I do so because I illegally hurled M&Ms at them. It scares me that some libertarians don't seem to comprehend the difference.

In any case, an adolescent comment like that deserves an adolescent* Kip Clip:

Of course, "judicial activism" often means protecting the inherent rights of politically disadvantaged insular minorities from the tyranny of the majority. To radical majoritarians like McCain, "judicial activism" is somehow a bad thing.

And, as some of us know, it really is hard being part of a politically disadvantaged insular minority:

Of course, VanFresh is Canadian, and Canada is often better at protecting minorities than the U.S. So he'll probably be fine.

I wonder how many Catholics, when the plate reaches them each Sunday, drop in not a twenty-dollar bill but a note demanding that the Vatican abandon its primitive, cruel and thoroughly un-Christian policies regarding gays.

For an American lay Catholic to disagree with the Pope's bilious blather but do nothing about it is, um, to do nothing about it. And I, like nicklansley, will not apologize for having an inordinate fondness for pointing that out.

One of Hillary Clinton's "million ideas that the country can't afford" comes from her silly ode to nanny-statism, It Takes a Village (with emphasis on "nanny"):
Videos with scenes of commonsense baby care -- how to burp an infant, what to do when soap gets in his eyes, how to make a baby with an earache comfortable -- could be running continuously in doctors' offices, clinics, hospitals, motor vehicle offices, or any other place where people gather and have to wait.
The only idea that could possibly be worse would be to outsource the nanny-videos to the British:

On second thought, maybe ominpresent YouTube videos from jimmy0010 wouldn't be such a bad idea.
I would have tried to cheer up disneykid1 and tell him that he is indeed desirable, datable, happy and cool. But then I remembered that I'm probably one of the "less than 20% of 23,336,016" people whom he outranks, so what's the point?
Last week's CuteTuber™ was a Mormon describing the challenges gays in that faith face.

But as we all know, the Mormons have some competition in the race for cruelest to their gay congregants:

How sad that mrbook7 seems able only to think in terms of "Christian" — as opposed to "Baptist" or "Catholic" or whatever sect he happens to be. Not all Christians are anti-gay, and if you cannot live a god-free life, then at least find a god that doesn't demand that you shred your soul to win his favor.

As I mentioned last week, the problem with coming out videos is that they all seem to be very long. (They make it sound as if coming out as gay is complicated or something. Go figure.)

At least this week, you'll get a Broadway show tune at the end. (Gee, no stereotyping there, right?)

This week's selection is a late entry motivated by news yesterday that Affirmation, the leading organization of gay Mormons, is seeking a meeting with the new President of the LDS Church.

To which my response is, "Yeah right, good luck with that." That's simply not how change will come to the secretive secretariat that is the Mormon church.

This is how it's going to come:

When enough parents of enough gay Mormons react like BFarnsey's parents did, when they start realizing how untenable (not to mention how cruel) their church's teachings about homosexuality are, when they start rising to positions of leadership with the Mormon bureaucracy, when enough threaten to withhold their tithing -- maybe then change will occur. Not before.

A challenge I face all too rarely is when I find a YouTuber to feature, but can't decide on a video (i.e., because he's made more than one that I'd like to post).

I was having exactly this problem with a young man from Idaho (Larry Craig country) named Jared. He had several fun videos posted, any one of which would be a good CuteTuber™ entry.

Then last week he posted this and there was no longer any room for debate:

I'll reiterate that PickThisCar invited any viewers struggling with their sexuality or with coming out to contact him. I of course extend the same invitation.

Meanwhile, I'm tempted to designate February as "Coming Out Month" here at Sunday CuteTuber™, but the problem is that such videos (of which there are many) tend to be very long. I'll of course decide by next week.
