In view of the recent exposure of a Boy Scout executive as an admitted child porn fiend, I am reprinting this blogpost about financial corruption in the Boy Scout leadership.

Should gays really want to play in this sandbox?

Ahem:
Boy Scout volunteer Tom Willis knew something was wrong when he saw that 20 youngsters on the list for a scouting program all had the same last name: Doe.

Willis said it appeared someone was listing fake members to boost enrollment, perhaps to bring in more funding from agencies like the United Way or to make paid Boy Scout recruiters look better.

"It was just so blatant. They didn't even try to make up names," said Willis, a dentist from Decatur and a former Eagle Scout who serves on the board of the Greater Alabama Boy Scout Council, which runs scouting programs in northeastern Alabama.

Now the FBI is investigating whether the council padded its membership rolls. It is just the latest investigation around the country into whether the Boy Scouts have inflated their numbers.
...
Suspicions have led to investigations elsewhere. In Texas, a Scout group removed thousands of names from its membership rolls and a federal grand jury two years ago looked into the matter. No charges were filed.

In Atlanta, independent auditors are investigating claims the metropolitan area's Boy Scouts inflated black membership numbers to 20,000 to gain more donations. A civil rights leader contends there are no more than 500 blacks actively involved.

To review:

On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

Not my area of expertise, but might the Boy Scouts have committed RICO violations? Maybe some asset forfeitures are in order?

As the Scouts are also fond of saying: "Be prepared..."

Keep in mind also that this occurred in Alabama, home of (ex) Judge Roy "Ten Commandments" Moore, same-sex marriage bans, sex toy bans and other fine upstanding examples of fine upstanding folk doing fine upstanding things...like committing fraud against charitable organizations.

The view is so breathtaking up here on the Moral High Ground.

ScoutGate Update
Geez, what a slow news day -- at this point I'm trolling just for updates:
An independent investigation of the Atlanta-area Boy Scouts found that the organization inflated its number of black Scouts by more than 5,000 in a program for inner-city youth. The executive director of the Atlanta Boy Scouts resigned after the report was released.

The exact motivation for padding the numbers was not provided, but auditors said Scout officials assigned to inner-city areas may have felt pressure to demonstrate membership growth, which is a part of their performance evaluations. Membership numbers also are used to help determined funding from the United Way, a major Scouts donor.
This was an isolated incident -- so far. I first blogged about it here.

Both before and after the Supreme Court ruled in Boy Scouts v. Dale, 530 U.S. 640 (2000), that the Boy Scouts could exclude gays, Congress has passed resolutions expressing their support for the organization (e.g., here).

Why do I suspect no resolutions condemning the Boy Scouts administration for their moral crookedness and lack of oversight will be forthcoming? After all, the Scouts boast about their Congressional charter and about their infiltration of Congress.

No need to "be prepared" for that kind of resolution, I think.

Another Quick ScoutGate Update
You know things are bad when even Rainbow/PUSH is critical of pro-black "statistics" --
Joseph Beasley of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition said that although the Atlanta Area Council released an audit last week claiming more than 5,300 black Boy Scouts were registered in the Operation First Class program, fewer than 500 blacks are actually registered.

"Let's have a roll call. Who would be opposed to that?" Beasley said. He planned to challenge the council on Monday to identify 1,000 inner city Scouts in the program.
When it comes to Boy Scout administrators (not individual Boy Scouts, of course, but the homophobic bureaucracy of the organization itself), gays must show absolutely no mercy. Every scandal, every act of hypocrisy, every embarrassment, every moral failure must be held up for the whole country to see. And then, with the indignation we have so dearly earned, gays must yet again ask a very simple question:

How dare you stand in moral judgment of us?
