Linkfest: Sunday Updates
---
Time to clean out the aggregator:
ITEM: Pfizer has ended its controversial advertising campaign for Lipitor featuring Robert Jarvik. Previous post here.
ITEM: The Washington Times has ended its mean, petty use of scare quotes when referring to gay marriage. Previous post here.
ITEM: Four Maryland newspapers have reached a settlement with disgruntled residents over unsolicited deliveries, thereby ending the push for a (possibly problematic constitutionally) "do not deliver list."
ITEM: Afghan opium poppy production is at record levels for the second straight year. What's the point of "the surge is working" if it's working in the wrong place? Previous post here.
ITEM: An academic research study concludes that expanding Daylight Saving Time has not reduced energy consumption, but in fact has increased it by 1-4%. Most recent post here.
ITEM: The European Union has again extorted money from Microsoft for having committed the "crime" of actually selling something that people want to buy. The ransom this time: $1.3 billion. Furthermore, the Eurocrats have already announced that even more investigations are under way against the company. Most recent post here.
ITEM: Meanwhile, the European Union has also ruled that only cheese actually made in the vicinity of Parma, Italy, can be called "Parmesan cheese." This follows similar rulings that only Greeks can make "feta cheese," only the French can use the word "champagne" and that a vineyard must actually be within sight of a castle to call itself "Château ___."
