A Stitch in Haste

A Stitch in Time Saves Nine...But Haste Makes Waste

A collection of real-world libertarian, individualist and laissez-faire rants on law, economics, politics, culture and other current events

My Very Own Subprime Crisis
(Why aren't you reading this at the new website?)

I bought into one of those quarterly score grids for The Big Game*, but got "Giants 8, Patriots 2."

Can anyone posit a reality-based way that might happen?

Of course, maybe Ben Bernanke will lower the entry fee so I can "stimulate" my wagering. Or perhaps Hillary Clinton will sponsor a freeze on all football scores to help bail me out.

I also have the Giants +12, lay $110 to win $100.

An email from my bookie father:
Now that the Mets got Johan Santana, they went from 8-1 to 5-1 to win the World Series; I think this is a good bet.
I think he means that he had already bought the Mets at 8-1, and is patting himself on the back now that they're only 5-1.

In any event, I don't follow cricket, so I have no opinion on this. What say you?
